Mall Trick Or Treating

We went to a trick or treating outing to the mall. The stores were giving out candy, it's nice because it's short, contained and during the day! Kenzie was batman, Audrey was a storm trooper, Ryan was Luke Skywalker and I was Minnie Mouse. We ended up running into the Swartzels at the mall which added to the fun (especially throwing Darth Vadar into the Star Wars mix of costumes. 

Audrey's Mystery History

Instead of Audrey's class dressing up for Halloween, they instead pick a historical figure, write a book report on that person and then dress up as them for Mystery History day. The class has to guess who they are based on the costume and the book report (which is done like a journal from the point of view of the historical figure). I love the idea of this, the kids get to dress up and they get to learn a lot. Audrey was dressed up as Sally Ride, the first female astronaut. 

Pumpkin Patch

The big kids had a day off school so I took them to a pumpkin patch. You actually get to pick your pumpkins directly off the vine! It was a lot of fun, and a lot of walking. We did corn maze, corn sandbox, picking pumpkins and picking cotton. 

Daisy Troop Dance Field Trip

Audrey had another Daisy Troop field trip today. They went to the Raleigh Dance Theatre and learned all about different types of dance! 

Week Update

This last week has been full of semi-sick children and a new car! Don bought a Honda Accord Hybrid, which is a major upgrade from his very old Honda Accord with the broken windows, CD player, AC and that had a habit of pretending like it was a big put out to be turned on. While we have been enjoying the new car, everyone has been some version of sick. Audrey was out of school and missed her first in class field trip (boo). Ryan was out of it all week, Don had a sinus infection and Kenzie is better than the last two weeks but still has the snots. At least the weather is nice :) 

Uncle David's 30th Birthday

A little delayed in posting, before we went on our trip we celebrated with Uncle David for his 30th Birthday!
