Strolling, Ryan couldn't have cared less about the balloon he literally didn't even look at it.
Rides from a distance Last week Ryan started to get picky with what he is eating.... but not like a normal child. Here is what he will eat:
Dairy, Crackers, Vegetables (Carrots, green beans and peas are his favs)
He won't drink juice, or eat anything sweet (some days I wonder if he is my child). He will eat a few bites of meat but that's it.
He always does things his own way.
I feel like all moms have “mom moments.” I had one today that made me smile.
I couldn’t get Ryan to take a nap, he was so tired but every time he fell asleep and I tried to put him in the crib he would wake up and scream. Finally after trying for over an hour I decided just to jump in the car and see if he would fall asleep there. We were driving and he wasn’t falling asleep. Finally I figured since we were out I would stop and get the milk and eggs we ran out of yesterday. The only problem was that I had been in such a hurry to get out of the house that I had gotten into the car wearing my bedroom slippers. Sitting in the parking lot of the grocery store I had to make the decision to go in wearing slippers or go home. I went shopping with my slippers on.
Ryan's one year Stats:
- He weighs 23 pounds 5 ounces (50th percentile)
- He is 30" long (50th percentile)
- his head is 19 1/4" (97th percentile... that sadly comes from my side of the family)
He is super healthy and developing well! He can walk now, it is faster to crawl but if he isn't in a hurry he can walk all the way across the house without holding onto anything. At the doctors appointment they had to do a finger prick to test hemoglobin levels.` Ryan thought they were playing a game with him when they did it so he went from being upset (before the prick) to laughing (during and after). Funny sense of humor that kid.
I can't believe my little man is 1! We had a great party yesterday to celebrate. A bunch of his friends came and we had a BBQ. It was a mad house: lots of kids, lots of toys, lots of food. Ryan was a little skiddish at first, but once he started playing with his toys he had a lot of fun. He loved his cupcake and all the attention he got. 
My Mom kept a scrapbook for me as I was growing up. My favorite part of it was the random questions I had to answer, so I am going to do the same thing for Ryan for his first birthday. Here Goes....
Ryan's best friend... probably Mya though he has friends Ava, Eva, Anders, Fiona etc.
Ryan's favorite Book... 5 little monkeys and Barnyard Dance
Ryan's favorite Song... Itsy Bitsy Spider and Wheels on the bus
Ryan's Favorite Game.. Probably passing the ball, it is sort of like soccer with hands.
Ryan's Favorite Food... Yogurt, Cinnamon Apple Sauce, Scrambled Eggss and Cheese Puffs
What Makes Ryan Laugh the Most... Making him hang upside-down or tickling
Ryan's Favorite place.. Either the pool or the sandbox.
Ryan's General Schedule... He wakes up at 7ish, naps at 12ish for about 2.5 hours and then goes to bed between 6:30-7:30.

You know when you are about to do something you have never done before how you picture everything that could possibly go wrong? Well luckily nothing even close to the worst happened when traveling on a plane for the first time with Ryan in fact he was a pretty good traveler. The stars seemed to align with us making traveling very manageable. On the way to MA we had TVs in the seat back so he got to play with that (way better then any toy I could have packed... and trust me I packed a lot of toys). Also the flight was at the perfect time of day so he was in a good mood so we sang songs, looked at books, ate etc. Besides playing with the TV he crawled between me and Don and waved "hi" at everyone on the plane. Good times. We rented a car so after getting our bag we got our car where Ryan fell asleep on the way to Don's parents house, he was then asleep for the night.
On the way home Ryan fell asleep during takeoff! It was great. The airline was nice enough to let us take the car seat on the plane and we set it up, he was so comfortable that he was out almost immediately. He woke up during descent. This gave Don and I a chance to eat lunch and decompress a little bit, it couldn't have worked out better. He was then awake when my wonderful brother picked us up from the airport! Ryan missed his uncle David who has been taking exams so it was a wonderful treat for him.
Overall traveling was tiring but easier then I thought it would be. Yay! That means I don't have to fear the rest of our trips planned this summer..... On with our adventures.
We have made it home from our great trip to Massachusetts! I am going to post some of the pictures now but there are a lot of them so I will likely have another blog entry with more pictures, and yet another one talking about the flight itself.
