Tap/ Ballet

Audrey has been taking a ballet/ tap class at a dance studio, it is her first dance class at a REAL studio. She is super cute and seems to really like it! 

Homework time

Homework time has become quite an adventure. I have to come up with assignments for Ryan and Audrey (Ryan's teacher sends home a math worksheet but we also do writing/ reading). Then on top of that I have to find a way to make a baby not be distracting, in other words I try to get her to go to sleep. The last few days have gone well, lets hope it continues. 

Frozen Party

The kids liked the movie Frozen so much that we decided to have a Frozen viewing party when it came out on DVD. They invited their friends, got out their sleeping bags and had a great time.

Baby feet change a lot as they get older so I thought I would catch some early pictures before they fill out too much- these are three week baby feet. notice on the second picture that she has a cute little webbed toe!

2 Week Stats

Kenzie turned 2 weeks old yesterday. It seems like we have had her forever! We went for her wellness visit today and she is growing well. She is now 7.9 pounds, up from her 7.2 birth weight and 6.12 at her first wellness visit. She is still 20.5 inches long and her head grew a lot and is now 37cm. The head growth is exactly what happened to Audrey so this time I am worried much less about it- apparently my kids wait to get their big heads until they come out of the birth canal which I am very thankful for! (they say that a rapid head growth can indicate issues with too much fluid in the brain- but after looking at the other kids history that said there is nothing to worry about). She is doing so well that the doctor said I didn't need to bring her back until her 2 month checkup in May!

Ripp Family Visit

The Ripp family came into town for a visit. We still hold out hope that they will pack up and move here!

Sister Love

Routine

We are settling into a new routine which some days actually resembles a schedule of sorts. When Kenzie is awake she just stares around her, she loves to be talked to and held. She loves attention from Ryan and Audrey especially when they are holding her. We can't wait to get to know her even better as she grows. 

First Bath

Kenzie had her first bath last night. It was the most successful first bath out of all three kids. We have learned that 1) Heat is the key- we cranked the heat and closed the door 2) a little bit of water goes a long way 3) Baths should be short and sweet with a nice towel ready and waiting. I think it also helps that Kenzie is much calmer then either Audrey or Ryan, she so far is a go with the flow sort of baby. We even managed to give Ryan and Audrey a bath at the same time. Parenting Win! 

Sisters

 Today was the first day that Ryan went to school and Audrey was home for the day. We have the grandparents and Don still here with us so it won't be how it will be when we are alone but it was a change since Audrey didn't have her playmate to get attention from. She was very good with her sister and she wanted to play with me a lot, I think she is starting to miss her routine.  Hopefully by next week we will start to get into a groove.

First Doctors Appointment and Mommy's Helper

Kenzie's first doctors appointment was on Saturday (a stipulation of getting out of the hospital early). Ryan refused to let her go in without him. He is VERY protective of her so far, apparently he is taking his role as big brother very seriously.  He sat super close to her the whole time and wouldn't even let me push her stroller. I had to explain to him what the doctor was doing the whole time because if Kenzie cried he started getting panicked. I hope he continues to love and care about her this much! It's nice to have a mommy's helper! 

Kenzie checked out well- she was at 6 pounds 12 ounces which means she hardly lost any weight at the hospital. Next check up will be at the two week mark.
