Charlotte Bridal Shower

Confession- I am slacking at certain things in order to get through other things. It happens. There are only a certain number of hours in the day. So anyway I will be short but I thought I would write a quick update....

This weekend we went to Charlotte for my future sister in laws bridal shower. Don was in Vegas with my brother for his bachelor party so with my mom and I both going to the shower we had very little in terms of child care options. Luckily my parents were game at making it a vacation and my dad flew in from North Dakota to take the kids while my mom and I were occupied. It was a crazy weekend- filled with lots of being late- trying to feed picky children, very little sleep and then my first Ikea experience. The weekend was so crazy I literally didn't take a single picture. Not even on my phone. So that's that, we made it back last night- the kids and I were in bed by 7:30pm and Don didn't fly in until 3:00am. Hopefully this week doesn't have too much in store for us so we can recover a bit.

First Day of the New School!

Ryan and Audrey started their new school today. They were really excited and luckily the excitement stuck with them all day. Ryan even told me when I picked him up that I did it too early and I should have left him to take a nap there (this from the kid who hasn't taken a nap in 2 years). They were lucky, their first day had a special guest Birdman Dave who brought a special parrot for the kids to see.  So far so good, their teachers said that they had great days! This is the school they will be attending in the fall. Audrey will stay in her classroom and Ryan will move up to the kindergarten at the end of August.  I hope that this was a sign of a great year ahead!

Happy Birthday Sweet Girl!

Audrey turned 3 today! She was very excited about the whole thing- in fact she had been talking about it for weeks. We started out with breakfast out, picking out a cake for her party and decorating... she had a princess themed party.  At 4:00 we started partying with her friends! Lot's of great food, friends and gifts. She had a great time the whole day! I just can't believe she is 3!

Happy 4th of July!

We celebrated the 4th with what has become a tradition of going to our friend Amy's house and having a cookout. We did water balloons, slip and slide, fireworks (thanks to Andy they were the big ones), lots of playing and lot's of eating. We had a great time, what a great way to celebrate our Independence!

Mountain Trip

The kids and I headed to the mountains with grandpa this weekend. We were about 40 minutes outside of Boone in a 100 year old farm house. It was a shock to the system to not have phone or internet- but the kids ended up loving it. We went to Tweetsie Railroad where we road a ski lift, went on a cowboy train, gem mining, and so much more. We also went fishing for Trout, both kids caught 2 pounders- they caught them at the same time which means that Ryan had to pull his up onto shore with no help! They both did great and we (meaning Grandpa and I) ended up eating fish for dinner!
There were also bubbles, s'mores, glow sticks, fishing in the creak, running- lots of running, exploring Boone,  and going to a working farm with Emu's, horses, chickens, turkeys and even a 24 hour hold bunny!  We were so tired when we came back that I'm pretty sure we could sleep for a whole day!
