Final Home Alone Project

The final projects I took on while Don was gone was painting the dining room (I only got through the first coat- but you can see where it's going) and getting a table for the entrance of the house (and putting it together).  The issue with painting with kids is that they go to bed at 8:00pm and get up at 7:00am which doesn't leave a lot of time for working- (paint and toddlers don't mix well- more on that later). So I prepped and painted from about 8:30-10:00 every night. I am ready for a nap now but I am very pleased with the progress! 

This is my example of why kids and paint generally don't mix in a productive way- this is my friend Amy's carpet after my kids decided to paint (when no adult was present). Yeah that happened...

Playroom Mural

Here is the final product of the birdhouse craft we did. I free handed the tree (using leftover paint the builder had in the garage). Then attached the birdhouses that the kids decorated and then used Vinyl bird transfer. Overall I love it- I still need a bit more shelving (who knew two kids could own so many toy trucks) and curtains then this room will be done! Birdhouses

Don was out of town this week so I decided to spruce up the playroom and the dining room. Well for the playroom, since it is the kids room I decided to have them help me decorating. They were in charge of decorating birdhouses. Lot's of paint and stick on jewels later we have some serious masterpieces. The last pictures is of the kids in the bath since they were covered head to toe in paint by the end of their project. The next post will be the final product (at least so far) in the playroom. 

2 Year Stats!

Audrey had her 2 year wellness doctors appointment today, her stats: 25.5 Pounds (35%), 33.5 Inches long (35%). Developmentally she is above average on everything- especially language. We had a problem with the first measurement and they thought she was only 3% in length- she is small but obviously not that small. All in all she is great- the doctor even said that Audrey made her want to have another baby :)

Ninja Tournament

Today Ryan "competed" in his first Taekwando Tournament. He was very brave considering he was terrified of the male instructor who was in charge. He wasn't as into it as he usually is but he did eventually do all the requirements and earned his first ever trophy. I am so thankful for the female instructor who came tonight because she knew how freaked out Ryan would be with the male instructor. At least we are making progress... 

Plane Watching

One of the great things about moving is being near new activities. One of the new things we tried this week was the airport lookout park. You can stand on a raised platform parallel to the runway and watch at the planes take off and land. Audrey LOVED it, her mouth hung open every time she saw a plane speeding by.
We'll see what other wonders we can find while exploring our new neighborhood!

Star

Ryan earned his first star in TaekWondo (Aka Ninja Class). Because he is not in a class yet where he earns belts he instead gets stars. I am one proud mom. Tonight he went to the earlier of two classes, and as he was leaving a kid in the later class started to freak out. The teacher asked Ryan to stay to make the kid more comfortable. Only a few weeks ago Ryan was the kid freaking out. I'm so glad he is taking to this, he seems to really enjoy it and it is helping him with his shyness by boosting his confidence.

Birthday Party!

Finally the culmination of a few days of celebrating- Audrey's birthday party! We had lot's of fun- I'll let the pictures show you the good times had  by all.

My sweet girl turned 2 today! It's funny with kids- it seems like time has flown since she was born but at the same time I can hardly remember what was life before her. She is so outgoing and talkative, she has a very sweet personality with a dash of drama. She loves crazy things like dinosaurs but seems like such a girly girl with most things. She loves her brother- yet tortures him every chance she gets. She didn't sleep for the first 18 months of her life and now she sleeps like a champ, even going so far as to tell me when she is tired and ready for sleep. She gives hugs all day long. She has figured out that if she says "Hug" instead of "Up" to get picked up that no one can refuse her. She likes to try new foods, she loves her friends, and she is a slave to fashion. I am so lucky to have her for a daughter. Happy Birthday Audrey!

 We invited friends over to celebrate! 

 We went to the Cheesecake Factory for a birthday dinner. Audrey took down her chicken nuggets and french fries- and the bread basket- and an ice cream :) They sang her Happy Birthday- she actually wasn't embarrassed at all she just wanted them to finish so she could eat her ice cream. After the meal we went to the Disney Store where she could pick whatever she wanted. In a store full of everything princess she ended up leaving with Perry The Platypus from Phineus and Ferb and the Dinosaur from Toy Story. (Grandma and Grandpa sent her a set of princess figurine which she had been playing with earlier in the day so apparently she was princessed out.

Over all we had a great day celebrating! Her party is Sunday so hopefully the Birthday weekend ends up being as fun for her as today was.
